FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to transport a dog from Canada to the U.S.?

It depends on distance and add-ons like customs documentation and border crossing fees. See our Pricing page for exact, published rates.

Do I need a health certificate to cross the border with my pet?

Yes. Cross-border trips require CFIA export documentation on the Canadian side and USDA/APHIS paperwork on the U.S. side. We prepare and verify this for every crossing.

Is my pet transported alone or with other animals?

Your pet travels in a dedicated vehicle for your booking only — never mixed with unrelated pets on a shared shuttle.

What if my pet needs medication during the trip?

Tell us on your inquiry form. Our drivers can administer routine medication on schedule; let us know any special handling instructions.

Do you transport breeds restricted from air travel?

Ground transport is often the right choice for brachycephalic (snub-nosed) breeds many airlines restrict. Talk to us about your breed and route.

How far in advance should I book?

As early as possible, especially for cross-border and long-haul routes. A $200 deposit secures your date.

What happens at the border?

We file eManifests with CBSA and CBP in advance and coordinate with a third-party customs broker for clearance. Our border crossing fee covers the driver's time and paperwork verification at the port of entry.

Do you offer overnight boarding on multi-day routes?

Yes, for long-haul trips that require an overnight stop. See the boarding fee on our Pricing page.

Do you charge different airport fees for Canada versus the U.S.?

No — International Airport Cargo Drop Off is a single flat fee of $199 CAD, regardless of which side of the border the airport is on.

What does the Border Crossing Fee actually cover?

It covers the driver's time and paperwork verification at the physical port of entry when the vehicle crosses between Canada and the U.S. It's unrelated to airport drop-off, and separate from third-party customs broker clearance, which is billed as a pass-through.

Where can I see what each fee on my quote covers?

Our Fee Definitions page explains every line item in plain language — customs documentation, border crossing, boarding, per diem, and airport cargo drop-off.
